Travel Insurance Terms and Conditions
The terms of business outlined below set out the basis on which Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited will provide business services to you as our customer and apply to any business services provided to you until further notice. Should our terms of business change, we will advise you in advance, in writing.
About Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited
Your policy is underwritten by Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited. It is registered in the Companies Registration Office under Company No. 53654 and is registered for Value Added Tax (VAT), registration no. 4102742A. Our contact details are set out at the bottom of this document.

Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited is regulated by the Financial Regulator. We are also members of the Irish Insurance Federation (IIF).
Our Services
Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited underwrites all major classes of non-life insurance including, but not limited to, Travel Insurance, Income Replacement Cover, Personal Accident Insurance and Health Related Insurance Products. We also provide a comprehensive claims service aimed at providing fair and efficient resolution following losses by our customers.
Main Characteristics of the Policy
The main characteristics of your (the consumer's) insurance policy are set out on this web site. Your policy will be emailed to you once you have purchased cover and is also available on request from Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited.
How We Charge for our Services/Default Remedies
The premium payable is shown on the quotation which you have received and will be on the policy confirmation you will receive on purchasing cover. The government levy is specified separately. Non payment of premium or part thereof or breach of certain policy conditions of a Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited policy may lead to the policy being revoked or cancelled.
Conflicts of Interest
Should any Conflict of Interest arise we will ensure that you are fairly treated with due reference to contract law and standard insurance market practice.
Cancellation/Right of Withdrawal
Please email us on customerservices@essentialtravel.ie if you feel this policy is not suitable for your needs and you require a refund. This email should reach us no later than 14 days after you have purchased your insurance. We will only give you a refund if you have not travelled or there have been no incidents which may give rise to a claim under your policy.
Governing law
The laws of Ireland will apply to a Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited policy and the Irish courts will have jurisdiction to hear any dispute regarding it, unless otherwise stated on the Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited application form or policy terms and conditions.
Language
A Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited policy and all communications in respect of the policy will be in English.
Complaints Procedure
If you feel you have cause for complaint, you should contact the Accident & Health Manager. If, after such contact, you remain dissatisfied, you should write to our Customer Complaints Officer at Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited, AIG House, Merrion Road Dublin 4. Telephone (01) 2081400.
